    A Weekend in Maine

Earlier this month, Jason and I went up north with some friends to spend a relaxing weekend away from the city.

A sandy beach next to a lake.

A few weekends back, some friends invited me and Jay to a house on a lake in Maine, and it was exactly the mini-getaway we needed!

We got into the car and headed for Fryeburg, a small town in the western part of the state. We had little to no phone service, which was such a refreshing break; I only had my phone out to take some pictures. I realized I didn't get a chance to share many of these on Instagram, so I thought I'd share them here.

Surprisingly, I didn't have many photos of food, and the ones I managed to take didn't come out all that great, but here are the photos worth sharing.

Pictured here is Oscar! He belongs to my friend, Amy. He's a very good boy and I love him.

The house we stayed at belonged to my friend Brian's parents and it's about a five-minute walk away from this awesome lake.

Also, it's a minute drive away on a golf cart! Don't mind the bumpiness.

There's a small community of people who live nearby and maintain the beach at that part of the lake, and they gather all the time in the evenings for drinks, a fire, and good times.

On our second night at the house, Brian's parents generously made us an awesome dinner of chicken, corn, potatoes, and salad. And they also had blueberry pie!

And here is a gorgeous view from a restaurant we ate brunch at. Photos never seem to do great views justice.

Also, I had some blueberry pancakes that were beyond amazing. Those wild Maine blueberries, amirite? So, so good.

I'm sad I didn't have a good photo of those pancakes.

We also headed over to some outlets in a nearby town and I picked up a couple of goods.

Bottles of blueberry syrup, BBQ sauces, Mike\'s Hot Honey, and assorted chocolates on a table.

This is how I started off the last morning in Maine. No one else was around and it was all very tranquil.

This is Amy's other adorable pup! Her name is Zero. <3

Also, spending a weekend with awesome people + awesome dogs = THE ABSOLUTE BEST.

Our last day in Maine also involved some kayaking, lounging, boating, and swimming. Here's a goofy pic of me and Jay on a boat.

And here are a bunch of us taking a break from boating to swim in the middle of the lake. The water was so warm and perfect.

Look at our dumb faces. A+++++

And here's just one more scenic shot from the boat. Those are the White Mountains back there.

    A large body of water.

    I want to go back.
